What is Band Boosters? – It’s you!
The SHS Band Boosters is made up of the band members, alumni, parents, or other interested person in the progress and development of the band program. Some of the ways the you can support the band:
Organize and facilitate fundraising efforts in order to pay competition fees, music, transportation fees, and band camp expenses.
Sponsor band camp and volunteer events for students who wish to raise funds for their personal student band accounts to cover their participation fees.
Parent volunteers fill a myriad of roles, from chairing committees, baking, sewing, copying, computer work, chaperoning, heavy lifting, feeding the kids, taking pictures, and much more.
The Band Boosters is a great way to be involved for your students and for the school. Many lasting friendships form within the booster’s.
Why should I get involved with the Band Boosters?
The primary reason for the band boosters is to support your children. The music, showmanship, spectacle and pageantry of the band and color guard experience are also reason that you may participate as a band booster parent. Being an active part of the booster’s program will introduce you to other parents/students and create camaraderie within the booster program. This in turn, will create a fun and exciting environment when participating in events, fundraisers and various activities that will last throughout your years as a booster parent.
What can I do?
One of the most important things you can do is to attend booster/parent meetings. You can ask questions, offer suggestions and ideas about upcoming activities. This is where decisions are made and we want all parents to be a part of that. It is also where you can contribute your ideas. We are always looking for new ideas for fundraising or contributing something new to the booster program. Additional ways to be involved is volunteering to chaperone, participate in fundraisers, help with band camp, help pull the band trailer, or other duties needed. The Band Boosters should not fall on the shoulders of just a few, so please get involved.
